A key part of the Ontario grade 4 curriculum is to include a diverse range of early societies before 1500. It is important to remember the contributions and social organization of different groups in North, Central, and South America. the Aztec Civilization is just one of these, but it is one that is particularly exciting and engaging to learn about in my experience. This kid-accessible article does a good job of explainign the different components of Aztec social organization/structure, particular under the "Society" header, in which Aztec hierarchies, courts, laws, and duties of citizenship are all discussed.
