Jane Elliott first gave this lesson on April 5, 1968, the day after Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. It’s called the “Blue Eyes - Brown Eyes” exercise, and it teaches a lesson on discrimination. Our words come with consequences, both good and bad. Our words still have power to bring down the Black & Indigenous communities today.
